This cable is absolutely no different from an expensive brand such as monster cable, etc. Its a digital signal so the brand won't make a difference, just give you a little more rubberized bling maybe.
The cable works great, keep in mind currently for the evo the only things that can be displayed via hdmi out to a hdtv/monitor are videos that can play in the existing player (some third party video players don't support it yet), pictures (only when playing a slideshow, NOT when file browsing), and very limited apps that support video out.
If you are expecting to play angry birds on your 50", it won't work no matter how much you spend on the cable. Also, the resolution can be great for video and picture files with a high native resolution but other things designed for the resolution of the phone will either display as a small window on your big screen or be blown up and a little pixelated, again this is not the fault of the cable. Overall, its an awesome cable for the price and certainly doesn't look or feel cheap. Now we can only hope that android video-out capabilities and apps that support it will get better. The cable is great you just need to know how to use it and understand the limitations of the current software and hardware.
My one complaint is that I should have bought a longer cable. Once you plug your cable into the back of your TV, 3ft runs out real quick. If you have hdmi ports on the sides or front of your TV or if you plan to plug it in start your movie or slide show and leave it then 3ft may be just fine. But consider getting a longer one to give you more play. And take comfort you didn't waste 30-50 bucks on an overpriced cable from another company.
