(More customer reviews)I was looking for a digital tuner (after June 12th that's all we get "over-the-air"). What I failed to realize is that I still needed the old NTSC analog standard if I needed to connect this gear to a cable TV system. Make sure you get the stick that has both analog AND digital. Also the PAL standard if you travel with it.
I connected it to my cable and scanned for channels and it didn't come up with any. Connected to my digital box from the cable company only got me 3 very high channels.
The device, a short cable to keep the heat from transferring to my laptop computer, the strange antenna and the antenna adapter (and of course the software) all came together in a nicely arranged box.
I plan to use it to watch TV on my balcony but I haven't had the chance I tried the set-up inside and I was able to pick up 12 digital channels. Outside will be even better I think.
I didn't want to be "wired" to my cable box anyway. I am going to see about getting an updated version of the software and drivers because for some reason the mouse doesn't line up with the graphics so you kind of have to guess and where the mouse pointer really is.
This beast does get warm! Little kids should be advised not to touch it after an hour or so. You might be advised not to as well. It has vents to let out the heat. If you are handy, use a wire coat hanger to make a little stand for your coffee cup and make use of that heat! I'll use it in winter as a hand warmer (with a mitten on of course).
